Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation to Hold Joint Distribution Garak Market Kimchi Ingredients Promotion Event on the 20th...Purchases Available at Up to 30% Lower Prices Than Market Rates at the Venue
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation (President Kim Kyung-ho) will hold a kimchi-making ingredient consumption promotion event on the 20th at Garak Market, in collaboration with Garak Market fruit and vegetable wholesale market corporations (Seoul Nonghyup (Public), Joongang, Donghwa, Hanguk, Daeacheonggwa) and Garak Market’s representative public interest corporation, Hope Sharing Market (Chairman Park Jae-wook), to revitalize consumer sentiment weakened by COVID-19 and stimulate the local economy in line with the phased recovery to normal life.
The kimchi-making ingredient consumption promotion event will take place on November 20th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the event venue inside Garak Market (buyer-only parking lot), selling kimchi-making ingredients sufficient for over 1,000 households based on a family of four at prices up to about 30% cheaper than market prices.
The ingredients for sale include nine items: salted napa cabbage, radish, peeled garlic, peeled green onions, red pepper powder, salted shrimp, mustard leaves, water parsley, and ginger. In particular, the main ingredient for kimchi-making, salted napa cabbage (20kg box), will be sold at about 30% cheaper than market price, at 23,000 KRW.
This event is supported by mutual aid funds prepared by the corporation and the fruit and vegetable wholesale market corporations, opening sales channels for producers in production areas and providing Seoul citizens with an opportunity to purchase quality kimchi ingredients at reasonable prices.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to support vulnerable groups. Additionally, after the event, Garak Market distributors and the corporation will carry out sharing activities by donating 10,000 boxes (10kg each) of finished kimchi to about 500 social welfare facilities and vulnerable groups in Seoul.
President Kim Kyung-ho said, “This event was organized to revive the depressed consumer sentiment and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy in cooperation with Seoul City and Garak Market distributors in line with the phased recovery to normal life after overcoming COVID-19.”
Chairman Park Jae-wook of Hope Sharing Market also stated, “This event truly embodies the spirit of mutual growth, as it helps not only Seoul citizens’ kimchi purchases but also supports vulnerable groups.”
