Robotis, Q3 Sales Up 20.8%... Operating Profit Turns Positive

Robotis, Q3 Sales Up 20.8%... Operating Profit Turns Positive

[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Robotis announced on the 15th that its sales in the third quarter of this year reached 5.7 billion KRW, an increase of 20.8% compared to the same period last year. Operating profit for the same period was 7 million KRW, and net profit was 593.53 million KRW, both turning positive.

It is analyzed that the improvement in performance was driven by the ‘Dynamixel,’ a core robot component. Dynamixel showed particularly strong sales in overseas markets. Dynamixel is a modular drive unit integrating a motor, reducer, and controller. It is used in various service robots such as multi-joint robots and autonomous driving robots.

Robotis plans to continue its growth trend in the fourth quarter of this year. To this end, the company is promoting the commercialization of AI-based autonomous indoor and outdoor delivery robots. Earlier this year in January, the company conducted a pilot service of the outdoor delivery robot ‘Ilgaemi’ near Magok, where its headquarters is located. In August, the indoor delivery robot ‘Jipgaemi’ was deployed at Henna Hotel in Myeongdong, accelerating its entry into the service robot market.

Kim Byungsoo, CEO of Robotis, said, “Demand for robots and automation systems is increasing due to COVID-19,” adding, “We plan to fully commercialize autonomous driving robots, which integrate robot technology accumulated over the past 20 years, next year.”
