Sarangjeil Church Followers Climb Utility Poles and Roofs to Fiercely Resist Eviction Enforcement

Regarding the demolition issue, the court attempted the 6th eviction enforcement early on the 15th at Sarang Jeil Church in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, which has been in conflict with the redevelopment association, but it was once again thwarted due to the congregation's resistance. This comes 10 days after the 5th eviction enforcement was also unsuccessful on the 5th. The church members fiercely resisted by spraying fire extinguisher powder and throwing stones and tires. They also staged sit-ins on utility poles and rooftops. Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon, who was present at the scene, stated, "This is a challenge to the Constitution and the Republic of Korea," and asserted, "We will reclaim the church in the future." Sarang Jeil Church, located in the middle of Jangwi 10 District, refuses demolition, claiming that the compensation offered by the redevelopment association is insufficient.
