[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Lee Jung-jae, who shook the world with 'Squid Game,' has taken the director's chair for the first time since his debut.
On the 15th, Megabox Joongang Corp. Plus M announced that the film 'Hunt' wrapped up filming on the 13th.
'Hunt' is a spy action drama where National Intelligence Service agents Park Pyung-ho (played by Lee Jung-jae) and Kim Jung-do (played by Jung Woo-sung) chase the head of a North Korean spy network and confront a huge truth. It is Lee Jung-jae's directorial debut and marks the reunion of Jung Woo-sung and Lee Jung-jae after 22 years since 'The Sun Also Rises,' generating high expectations.
Lee Jung-jae plays Park Pyung-ho, the deputy head of the NIS Team 1, who has 13 years of experience, sharp instincts, and exceptional intelligence, portraying a meticulous and cold character. Jung Woo-sung takes on the role of Kim Jung-do, the deputy head of NIS Team 2, who is passionate and makes bold decisions, creating a competitive dynamic with Park Pyung-ho.
Jeon Hye-jin plays Bang Ju-kyung, an agent of NIS Team 1 who assists Park Pyung-ho, and Heo Sung-tae plays Jang Cheol-sung, an agent of NIS Team 2 who follows Kim Jung-do's orders. Newcomer Go Yoon-jung makes her screen debut as Jo Yoo-jung, a student caught up in a huge incident.
Leading a grand journey of about 100 shooting days over six months, Lee Jung-jae said, "I sincerely thank all the staff who worked hard together to create better scenes. Also, I want to express my gratitude to my colleagues and senior and junior actors who showed consideration while working closely with me through much preparation and thought in a situation where I had to direct and act at the same time. We will do our best to present a great film to the audience who are curious and waiting for 'Hunt.'"
Jung Woo-sung shared, "Although it was over 100 shooting days, I don't know how the time passed. This film is personally meaningful as it is the first time we appear together in a project since 'The Sun Also Rises.' The set was full of tremendous passion from many actors and staff. Please look forward to and support the film."
Jeon Hye-jin said, "Despite the exhausting conditions, Director Lee Jung-jae paid attention to every single cut until the end, which was amazing. Especially since I played Ju-kyung, who supports Park Pyung-ho closely, his dedication felt even closer. It was a happy time working with such wonderful people."
Heo Sung-tae said, "Every time I saw Jung Woo-sung senior on one side and Director Lee Jung-jae on the other, it felt like a dream, and I learned a lot from both of them. I don't think such a time will come again, so I will never forget it. Since this is a meaningful work, I hope it becomes a film that deeply resonates with the audience."
Go Yoon-jung said, "As this was my first film, I was very nervous as well as excited, but thanks to Director Lee Jung-jae and the seniors' help, I was able to complete filming safely. I sincerely thank all the staff, and this will be an unforgettable set where I learned a lot."
'Hunt' is scheduled to be released after post-production.
