[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] Urbanbase Co., Ltd. announced on the 15th that it has launched 'Urbanbase,' an all-in-one interior platform that enables everything from 3D interior design to construction in one place. While it has supported the digitalization of the living industry through contactless technology, it is now intensifying its attack on the B2C (business-to-consumer) interior market with its own platform that consolidates core technologies and operational know-how.

Urbanbase, the operator of the platform, is a spatial data company established in 2014, possessing patented technology that automatically converts 2D floor plans into 3D spaces, as well as core metaverse technologies such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Through this, it has provided B2B services in the form of SaaS and API/SDK to domestic and global corporate clients.

The newly introduced Urbanbase is an integrated interior service that combines years of accumulated technology and B2B service operational know-how, offering a seamless experience from simulating your home to construction. It can be used immediately by searching 'Urbanbase' on a portal site without any separate download or installation. It is divided into the '3D Studio,' where users can pre-design their desired space, and the 'Interior Consultation' feature, which connects users with construction experts who will realize the designed space in reality.

In the '3D Studio,' users can decorate their home using a 3D floor plan and preview the interior after completion. The 3D floor plan can be loaded in just a few seconds by searching the apartment address on the map, and if no floor plan is available, users can input actual measurements to create and utilize a 3D floor plan themselves. Once the virtual space is created, 3D styling begins. Users can decorate their home using all furniture, appliances, and finishing materials available on the market, and through the custom feature, freely adjust product sizes, colors, and more for simulation.

For certain products, AR functionality is also provided. If users find a product they like during the 3D styling process, they can scan an AR QR code to place it in their actual space and check the space-product fit.

The 'Interior Consultation' feature was developed in response to consumer feedback wishing that the 3D styled space be realized exactly in reality. It avoids construction matching focused solely on estimates and connects construction experts based on lifestyle and space, aiming to solve chronic problems in the interior industry such as poor-quality construction. Urbanbase currently works with about 20 construction partners through an internal verification system.

Hajinwoo, CEO of Urbanbase, said, "The interior industry is a market where it is particularly difficult to realize spaces that truly reflect consumer needs due to severe information asymmetry between service providers and consumers," adding, "Through the Urbanbase service, we will pioneer an interior market with high consumer self-determination rights, where even non-experts without interior knowledge can easily design and realize spaces."

Meanwhile, Urbanbase plans to continue various marketing communication activities under the concept of 'Previewing Interior' to celebrate its launch.
