[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] RNT Technology announced on the 15th that its cumulative sales for the third quarter reached 20.9 billion KRW. Operating profit and net profit were 2.1 billion KRW and 1.1 billion KRW, respectively.
The company stated that due to expanded 5G investments in North America and Pre-5G investments in India, sales of domestic large corporations’ communication equipment components (MLC, MCP) increased by 423% compared to the previous year. Additionally, driven by increased demand for 5G-related devices such as smartphones and Wi-Fi routers, sales of materials (LTCC powder) rose by 49% year-on-year, leading the performance.
Sales in the third quarter of 2021 were 5.8 billion KRW, a 45% increase compared to the same period last year, but a 29% decrease compared to the previous quarter. The delay in shipment of material products due to the global semiconductor supply shortage affected the performance. The company also reported that with reduced 5G investments in China compared to the previous year, the increase in sales of communication equipment components to China has been slow. Due to the decrease in sales compared to the previous quarter, operating profit turned to a loss in the third quarter.
The future performance trend of RNT Technology is positive. The battery protection device business is showing results, and recently, the company completed registration as a supplier and parts registration with a global battery specialist company. Sales to new customers are expected to materialize from the end of this year, and REP’s sales contribution is anticipated to increase significantly next year.
As battery fire incidents have become more frequent in wireless electronic products recently, demand for battery protection devices is expected to steadily increase. REP is a component that physically blocks overvoltage and overcurrent, enhancing the safety of secondary batteries.
An RNT Technology official said, “After securing all five major communication equipment companies as customers, we have also entered global battery specialist companies, gaining recognition for our technological capabilities,” adding, “Following materials (LTCC powder) and communication equipment components (MLC, MCP), we will actively diversify sales channels in battery protection devices (REP) as well, creating a company that never stops growing.”
