LG Uplus Launches ‘U+VR Mock Interview’ for Solo Practice Using VR

[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] LG Uplus announced on the 15th that it will officially launch ‘U+VR Mock Interview,’ a service that allows users to practice entrance exam and job interviews through VR devices, in collaboration with VR education specialist Mintpot.

‘U+VR Mock Interview’ is an interview practice service where interviewers in VR videos respond immediately to trainees’ answers and ask related questions, enabling trainees to experience interviews similar to real ones. The content developed by Mintpot is provided through LG Uplus’s VR education platform and communication network.

LG Uplus planned this service after recognizing the growing importance of interviews in entrance exams and employment at high schools and universities, but also the limitations in providing proper interview education due to a shortage of staff. High schools, universities, and employment education institutions that require interview guidance can expect the same educational effect at a lower cost compared to expensive face-to-face interview training.

In face-to-face interview training, one instructor can teach 4 to 6 people per day, whereas using ‘U+VR Mock Interview,’ more than 20 trainees can receive interview training per day with just one VR device.

‘U+VR Mock Interview’ eliminates the fear of interviews by immersing users in vivid interview scenes through VR videos featuring interviewers. During mock interviews, users receive real-time feedback from virtual interviewers on eye gaze, voice volume and speed, and answer content, and they also receive detailed expert feedback by analyzing recorded videos.

Additionally, to allow customized practice according to trainees’ needs, a database (DB) of 16,000 questions covering over 80 job types, companies, and academic departments used in actual interview settings has been created. AI functions apply to the trainees’ answers to generate the next question. Trainees can also focus on and repeatedly practice weak areas through ‘Training Mode’ and ‘Recorded Video Review’ to improve their skills.

Seunghoon Jeon, Senior Vice President of New Business Development at LG Uplus, said, “Through U+VR Mock Interview, we will widely distribute the service to domestic educational institutions to help numerous entrance exam and job applicants reduce their interview anxiety and achieve successful admission and employment.” He added, “Starting with U+VR Mock Interview, we will provide various immersive and experiential content using VR to companies and industrial sites in the future.”
