Over 300 firefighters and more than 200 firefighting vehicles and equipment deployed for extinguishing operations

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A wildfire that broke out in Seomyeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do was extinguished in just over two hours.
On the 14th at around 9:59 PM, a fire started in the hills around Jangseung-ri, Seomyeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do.
The wildfire began on the hill behind the village hall and spread to the summit, driven by the wind, making firefighting efforts difficult, but the main fire was contained within two hours.
Forestry authorities estimate that about 5,000㎥ of forest was burned. There were no reported casualties from the fire, but 10 guests staying at nearby pensions were urgently evacuated to the village hall.
Upon the outbreak of the fire, the East Coast Wildfire Prevention Center immediately mobilized its staff and deployed firefighting personnel and equipment from nearby Sokcho and Goseong areas. Additionally, 12 members of the county's special firefighting team and 6 officials from the 8th Corps were dispatched.

About 300 firefighters and wildfire suppression personnel, along with approximately 200 firefighting vehicles and equipment, were deployed to combat the fire, and by around 12:10 AM today, the major flames were brought under control.
Prior to this, a dry weather advisory had been in effect in the Yangyang-gun area since the 11th. A wildfire prevention center official stated, "The main fire has been contained, and mop-up operations are underway," adding, "We plan to accurately assess the damage area and conduct an investigation in the morning."
