Gangnam-gu Shares 490 Boxes of Kimchi with Vulnerable Groups and Child Welfare Facilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) held a "Sharing Love Kimchi Making" event on the 12th with the Gangnam-gu Saemaeul Women's Association to deliver kimchi to vulnerable groups and welfare facilities in the area.

Through this event, the district delivered 490 boxes (4,900 kg) of kimchi, directly prepared by the Saemaeul Women's Association executives, to 440 households including child-headed families, elderly living alone, and disabled households, as well as five child welfare facilities, while also checking on their well-being.

The event was attended by 16 people, including District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun, Saemaeul Women's Association President Park Soo-kyung and executives, and branch women's association presidents, and was conducted with strict adherence to quarantine guidelines.

District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun said, "Gangnam is known as a 'wealthy neighborhood,' but among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, it ranks 12th in the number of basic livelihood security recipients, showing a clear gap between rich and poor and polarization. We will continue volunteer activities to care for marginalized neighbors with the 'Mimiwi spirit' of sharing, caring, and respecting."

In July, the district and the Saemaeul Women's Association also held a kimchi sharing event, delivering 300 kg of kimchi made on-site to 100 vulnerable households. They plan to carry out a "Sharing Love Side Dishes" project in December.
