[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] Former director of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, Yoo Si-min, recommended books he would like to suggest to major presidential candidates from both ruling and opposition parties. Both books deal with the theme of humanity.

On the 13th, Yoo Si-min chose the book Dear My Client as a recommendation for Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, during MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus'. This book is an essay written by Jeong Myeong-won, deputy chief prosecutor at the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office West Branch.

Yoo introduced it as "an essay about how a person with truly humane feelings and common sense as a citizen works as a prosecutor, how they approach their work, people, and immerse themselves in cases."

He added, "I came to deeply understand the emotions and thoughts a humane prosecutor experiences while doing this work." He further said, "Interpret the meaning of my recommendation as you see fit."

For Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate, he recommended the Russian author Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.

Yoo explained, "It is a book that contains the wisest way to endure humiliation," and "It shows well how a person protects themselves in painful and shabby reality, and how human dignity and humanity are preserved in relationships with others."

Meanwhile, Yoo Si-min stepped down from his director position last month, stating, "I am returning to my original place of connecting with the world through writing and speech," drawing a line against participating in active politics.

In January of this year, when the 'prosecutors' foundation account inspection suspicion' he raised was proven false, Yoo apologized, saying, "I will no longer make any political issue critiques."

However, as a key pro-Roh figure once called the 'political security chief' of the late President Roh Moo-hyun, Yoo remains a politically significant figure, and there are ongoing rumors about his possible return to the campaign headquarters as a rescuer.
