Dongseo University to Launch Master's and Doctoral Programs in Industrial Mathematics... Partnership with National Institute for Mathematical Sciences to Foster Talent Dongseo University, Agreement Ceremony with the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongseo University has partnered with a specialized research institute to cultivate talent in applied mathematics fields that are practically used in the industry.


On the 11th, Dongseo University signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS) for mutual understanding and cooperation in the field of industrial mathematics applications and talent development.


The agreement ceremony was attended by Dongseo University President Jang Je-guk, Vice President Kim Jeong-seon, Graduate School Dean Lee Jong-ik, Industry-Academia Cooperation Group Director Jeong Do-woon, College of Software Convergence Dean Jo Kyung-mi, Professors Lee Byung-guk, Lee Hoon-jae, and Lee Sang-gon.


From the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Director Kim Hyun-min, Head of Industrial Mathematics Research Division Ha Tae-young, Head of Public Infrastructure Research Division Hwang Dong-wook, and Director of Busan Medical Mathematics Center Yoon Kang-jun were present.


The two institutions will support ▶ talent development in industrial mathematics applications, personnel exchange, and mutual cooperation in joint projects ▶ joint development of curricula and academic-industry exchange ▶ joint utilization of research resources for core technology development and promotion of joint projects ▶ fostering and revitalizing regional industries and jointly establishing corporate support systems.


Dongseo University and the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences will also operate master's and doctoral programs to train domestic science and technology professionals. They agreed to establish and operate cooperative master's and doctoral degree programs at Dongseo University's Graduate School.


The cooperative program majors will include both applied mathematics and industrial mathematics fields corresponding to NIMS research areas, with specific majors and enrollment details determined by the steering committee's review.


Students admitted to Dongseo University's Graduate School will study half of their coursework at the university and conduct experiments, practical training, and thesis research with the applied mathematics expert group at NIMS.


President Jang Je-guk of Dongseo University stated, “Operating master's and doctoral degree programs to cultivate basic science and industrial mathematics professionals will provide an opportunity for mutual benefit between the two institutions.”
