[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Woongjin ThinkBig (CEO Lee Jaejin) announced on the 11th that its augmented reality reading service 'Interactive Book' global version 'ARpedia' has won the CES 2022 Innovation Award.
According to Woongjin ThinkBig, this award is significant as it is the first CES Innovation Award received by a domestic education company, recognizing the innovation of edutech technology by a face-to-face learning-based Korean education company on the global stage.
Interactive Book is an augmented reality reading service applying nine AR patent technologies acquired by Woongjin ThinkBig in the US and Korea. Characters, illustrations, and photos in the book unfold in augmented reality, allowing readers to enjoy various direct and indirect vivid experiences while reading.
In particular, users can enjoy immersive and fun experiences such as a job simulation of being a firefighter putting out fires or conducting a frog dissection experiment in a science lab. Another feature is the immersive experience of combining one's own photo and voice with storybook characters, making it feel as if the user is directly experiencing the story.
Choi Samrak, Head of IT Development at Woongjin ThinkBig, said, "Interactive Book is the first case of Korean edutech technology being introduced worldwide," adding, "We will make this an opportunity to widely promote the excellence of AR and AI educational technologies we have developed over several years to the global market."
ARpedia is currently sold in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Previously, it was selected for Amazon Launchpad, a program by Amazon in the US and UK that designates global innovative products.
