'Data Utilization Activation' Administrative Document Innovation... Improving Accessibility of 5 Types Including Research Reports

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] From now on, administrative documents will be produced in a data-friendly manner, making it easier to utilize data through searching, extracting, and editing. The existing administrative document writing methods varied slightly by department, making data utilization difficult, and the provided documents were dispersed across multiple locations, causing inconvenience in finding the desired documents.

On the 11th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it standardized the items written for five types of documents with high public data demand?press releases, research reports, public forms, recruitment announcements, and committee decision documents?while converting the storage format to an open document format. The created documents have been reorganized to be provided through an integrated and linked system.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will start the revamped public forms service from the 12th and plans to provide phased public services for research reports, press releases, recruitment announcements, and committee decision documents by the first half of next year. Internal administrative documents will also be converted to an open format for document writing, and keywords will be entered into document information to make them data-friendly.

Professor Lee Jae-ho of the University of Seoul, chairperson of the Domestic Expert Committee on Electronic Documents and Processing Languages, evaluated, “At a time when the rapid development and spread of artificial intelligence technology and the importance of data and knowledge are being highlighted, administrative document innovation will contribute to the government’s leap toward digitalization.” Nam Dong-seon, CEO of PanSoft and chairperson of the international standard for document management application fields, also stated, “It will become possible to develop data extraction technologies necessary for data analysis and systems for data processing and big data analysis.”

The government plans to continuously identify and reorganize public disclosure documents and expand innovation plans for internal administrative documents to local governments and others, spreading administrative document innovation at the whole-of-government level.
