Gochang-gun Selected for the '2022 Forest Watershed Management Public Project'

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 5th that it has been selected for the 2022 Forest Watershed Management Contest Project conducted by the Korea Forest Service.

The total project cost is 1.131 billion KRW, of which 91%, approximately 1.029 billion KRW, will be funded by national and provincial subsidies.

Forest watershed management is a type of erosion control project aimed at preventing landslide disasters in mountainous areas in advance or reducing damage, thereby creating ecologically and environmentally healthy forest watersheds.

The Gochang forest watershed management project to be implemented next year targets the area around San 141, Yeonhwa-ri, Simwon-myeon (approximately 160 hectares), where erosion control dams and stream conservation facilities will be installed within the watershed to prevent debris flow and landslides.

By early next year, administrative tasks such as consultations according to relevant laws and consent forms for land acquisition will be completed, along with detailed design, and the project is planned to be completed by the end of the year.

The county expects that, in connection with this forest watershed management project, various forest projects such as forest road construction and forest tending projects will maintain the forest healthily and provide a venue for diverse forest recreation activities utilizing forest project facilities.
