[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced on the 4th that it will participate in the "4th China International Import Expo" held from the 5th to the 10th at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China, together with 111 domestic companies that have branches or agents in China or can operate through agents.

Due to strict quarantine policies, including a three-week quarantine for all overseas arrivals in the Shanghai area, KITA will participate using the same agent operation method as in previous years.

In preparation for a decrease in the number of buyers due to the tightened quarantine guidelines, KITA held a preliminary online consultation meeting last month with buyers from the western region participating in the import expo. On the 9th, an online consultation meeting will be held with buyers from the Beijing area. Additionally, utilizing the association's network in China, KITA promoted a "web directory" of domestic participating companies to local Chinese governments and institutions to encourage visits to the Korea Pavilion.

Cho Hak-hee, head of KITA's International Business Division, said, "Despite COVID-19, the re-participation rate of global companies in the China International Import Expo reaches 80%," adding, "Under President Xi Jinping's directive, the International Import Expo will establish itself as a representative expo of China alongside the Guangzhou Canton Fair (China's largest import and export trade fair)." He emphasized, "Our companies need to consistently utilize the import expo as an important platform for entering the Chinese market."
