Samsung iD Card 2 Types Unveiled... Benefits Over 480,000 KRW Annually
Card Designs Vary by Preference, Eco-Friendly Theme Applied
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Samsung Card has revamped its brand and product system for the first time in 10 years. The company plans to transform its 'practical' brand, represented by numeric cards for a decade, into a 'preference' brand to respond to future changes in consumer behavior.
On the 3rd, Samsung Card announced that it will introduce a new product brand called 'Samsung iD Card' along with a new brand focused on personal preferences. The flagship product brand, Samsung iD Card, embodies the meaning of knowing oneself, reflecting one’s identity, and expressing oneself. Samsung Card unveiled the first products of the 'iD Card' series: the 'Samsung iD ON Card' and the 'Samsung iD ALL Card.'
The Samsung iD ON Card is designed to offer greater benefits to customers whose lifestyle centers around online activities. It provides a 30% payment day discount up to 10,000 KRW per month in the category where the customer spends the most among coffee shops, delivery apps, and delis, based on the previous month’s usage amount. Additionally, a 10% payment day discount up to 20,000 KRW per month is offered for transportation, mobile communication, and streaming services. Furthermore, a 3% payment day discount up to 10,000 KRW per month is available for online simple payments and overseas transactions. Even if the monthly usage is below 300,000 KRW or the discount limit is exceeded, a 1% payment day discount is provided without limit.
The Samsung iD ALL Card is tailored for customers who prefer offline usage. This product allows applicants to choose between a discount type and a points type. It offers a 5% payment day discount up to 10,000 KRW per month in the category where the customer spends the most among discount stores, department stores, and supermarkets, based on the previous month’s usage amount. Additionally, a 2.5% payment day discount up to 10,000 KRW per month is provided for fuel, mobile communication, and apartment management fees. Moreover, a 0.5% payment day discount is available at domestic and international merchants without any monthly usage or discount limit. The points type offers the same benefits and conditions but provides point accumulation instead of payment day discounts.
Both products also offer a 'Preference Targeted Benefit,' which provides additional benefits not included in the card products themselves, based on each customer’s consumption patterns, available monthly. The annual fee for both cards is 20,000 KRW, and customers can receive benefits worth up to 480,000 KRW annually.
The card designs have also been newly created. A 'selectable design' has been applied so that customers can choose designs according to their preferences for each product, and a vertical plate design familiar to the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) has been introduced. Additionally, through an 'eco-friendly theme,' Samsung Card plans to satisfy customers’ tastes who pursue sustainable style and value by offering 'card plates' made from recycled plastic and 'issuance packages' made from low-carbon paper.
Starting with the two newly released products, Samsung Card plans to continuously introduce various card products that meet the needs of specific industries, trends, and issues, as well as products developed in collaboration with brands.
To commemorate the brand revamp and the launch of the Samsung iD Card, Samsung Card will hold various events. From the 9th to the 30th, members who enter the event and watch the Samsung iD Card advertisement on Samsung Card’s YouTube channel will be entered into a draw to receive Starbucks coffee mobile coupons for up to 100,000 people, based on YouTube views. Additionally, members who participate in the event and spend a total of 500,000 KRW or more in lump sum or installments using Samsung Card during the event period will be entered into a draw to win various prizes such as the Galaxy Watch4, Bespoke refrigerator, and Galaxy Z Flip3. Other events include the 'Preference Respect Challenge,' which offers gifts upon achieving spending targets after selecting preferred industries, and the '2022 Financial Luck Test,' which explores consumption preferences. These events will run until the 30th.
A Samsung Card official said, "Through the new brand, Samsung Card will become a company that reflects customers’ preferences," adding, "We plan to continuously introduce various benefits and services tailored to customers’ tastes, including the 'iD Card.'"
