[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Dong-A Chemical's subsidiary Dong-A Fuel Cell announced on the 3rd that it has obtained KS certification for its world-class '5 kW-class High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (HT-PEMFC) technology.'
Dong-A Fuel Cell, which received KS certification on the 1st, expects to generate significant synergy effects ahead of the full-scale distribution of building-use fuel cells through various institutional supports such as government renewable energy facility installation support, mandatory project application, and priority purchase of government procurement products.
A Dong-A Fuel Cell official stated, "Through this certification, we can receive legal and institutional government support, commercialize high-temperature polymer fuel cell systems, increase demand and job creation through exports, and contribute globally to carbon neutrality."
Additionally, Dong-A Fuel Cell exhibited its building-use high-temperature polymer fuel cell system at 'FC-EXPO 2021,' a leading specialized exhibition in the hydrogen and fuel cell sector held in Japan.
Through this exhibition, Dong-A Fuel Cell held individual consultations with more than 30 related organizations, including KDDI, Japan's largest telecommunications company, renewable energy distribution, and hydrogen and fuel cell sectors, negotiating contracts worth $13 million over the next year and $40 million over three years. Specific contracts are being pursued with each organization.
For practical exports, Dong-A Fuel Cell plans to sign agreements this month with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in cooperation with the Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association's Japan Base Center, the EcoPa Corporation (Japan Low Carbon and Energy Saving Promotion Organization), to secure distribution bases in Japan and promote distribution projects after certifying fuel cell products in Japan.
