Reuse of 50,000㎥/day Treated Wastewater and 16.8㎞ Supply Pipeline to be Promoted as a Private Investment Project
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do plans to actively respond to climate change and environmental issues by establishing a water circulation system that reprocesses treated sewage water discharged into the South Sea after treatment at the sewage treatment plant located in Sinwol-dong, and reuses it as industrial water.
According to Yeosu City, through the "Sewage Water Reuse Project," a reprocessing facility will be installed at the Yeosu Sewage Treatment Plant to reprocess and supply water that meets higher quality standards than those required by users, promoting a private investment project (BTO).
This project will cost approximately 81.2 billion KRW, including 41.1 billion KRW in national funds and 35.4 billion KRW from the private sector, and the project period is expected to take about two years.
Upon completion in 2024, this project is expected to somewhat alleviate the shortage of industrial water caused by the construction and expansion of large-scale factories within the Yeosu National Industrial Complex.
The city plans to sign an implementation agreement in December after review by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in November, with (tentatively named) Yeosu Green Hub Co., Ltd. (representative company: Techross Water & Energy), which was designated as the preferred negotiator in February this year.
