[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A woman in Thailand was arrested after cutting the rope of a worker painting the exterior wall of a building.

On the 28th (local time), foreign media including the US AP News reported that Ms. A (34), who lives on the 21st floor of a 32-story condo in Thailand, was charged with attempted murder and property damage.

According to the report, on the 12th, Ms. A cut the rope that workers maintaining the building's exterior were hanging from when they appeared outside her window.

Earlier, the condo management had announced that exterior maintenance work would take place that day. However, unaware of this, Ms. A became angry upon seeing the workers outside her home and cut the rope.

At the time, Mr. Song, a Myanmar national working on the site, along with another worker, knocked on the building's window to request rescue.

Mr. Song explained the situation, saying, "I was coming down from the top floor, the 32nd, sealing cracks in the building, when at the 30th floor I suddenly felt the rope become heavy. Looking down, I saw someone on the 21st floor opening a window and cutting the rope."

Fortunately, another worker upstairs was holding onto the rope, and a couple on the 26th floor opened their window, preventing a fatal accident.

The couple on the 26th floor who helped the workers said, "It was a very shocking incident," and added, "This must never happen again."

Meanwhile, Ms. A initially denied the charges during police investigation but admitted to the crime after fingerprint and DNA analysis from the rope were confirmed.

According to the police, Ms. A claimed she had no intention to kill the workers. The police temporarily released Ms. A and plan to submit the indictment to the district court within 15 days.
