[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A man who won the lottery worth 2.3 billion won twice has become a hot topic as an 'extremely lucky' individual.

According to CNN on the 30th (local time), a man in his 60s living in Maryland, USA, bought two lottery tickets at a neighborhood gas station a few months ago while running a morning errand.

Both lottery tickets were winners. The first ticket won $100, and the second won $2 million.

This is not the first time the man has won a large lottery prize. A few years ago, he also won a lottery of the same amount, receiving $2 million. At that time, the prize money was used for retirement funds and a family trip, according to a Maryland lottery official.

Meanwhile, due to the COVID-19 situation, the man could not claim the prize immediately and stayed at home for several months before recently coming to redeem the prize. This was because the validity period of the lottery ends on the 1st of next month.

He said through a Maryland lottery official, "I was a little nervous. I was worried that the lottery ticket might burn if there was a fire at home or that the validity period of the ticket might expire," and added, "I also doubted whether this situation was real."

He also left advice for people who buy lottery tickets. He said, "I am an extremely lucky person," and added, "Be realistic and don't forget. You buy lottery tickets not expecting to hit the jackpot but for fun."

He added that he plans to use the second lottery winnings for home remodeling and a family trip.
