President Moon Jae-in met with U.S. President Joe Biden on the 30th (local time) in Rome, Italy, where he visited to attend the G20 summit.
Before the official welcoming ceremony of the G20 summit held at the Nuvola Convention Center in Rome that day, President Moon greeted President Biden, discussing the previous day's meeting with the Pope.
Both leaders met separately with Pope Francis a day apart due to the time difference.
President Biden said, "Now that President Moon has arrived, the G20 will go well," according to a written briefing by Blue House spokesperson Park Kyung-mi.
In response, President Moon said, "I heard you met the Pope yesterday," adding, "I also met him yesterday, and he prayed for peace on the Korean Peninsula and said that if invited, he would visit North Korea."
President Biden called it "welcome news" and stated, "You are making progress in resolving the Korean Peninsula issue."
