Korea is One of Jiangsu Province's Top 4 Trade Partners...Active Economic Cooperation Expected
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] One of China's largest trade fairs, the 'Korea-China Trade and Investment Expo,' opened on the 29th in Yancheng, the second largest city in Jiangsu Province.
Now in its third year, this expo will run until the 2nd of next month, featuring various events such as exhibitions and forums focused on automobiles, renewable energy, information and communication technology, smart manufacturing, and modern services.
A total of 121 companies from Korea, China, and Japan participated in the investment expo both online and offline.
Korean conglomerates with production lines in Yancheng, such as Kia Motors and SK Innovation, set up separate booths to showcase Korean technological capabilities.
Additionally, KOTRA's Nanjing Trade Center established a separate Korean product exhibition hall for about 60 small and medium-sized enterprises that found it difficult to attend in person due to COVID-19.
Before the expo's opening, businesspeople from both countries held an exchange meeting under the theme "Deepening Industrial Cooperation between Jiangsu Province and Korea," pledging active economic cooperation between the two nations.
During the expo, various events such as the "Korea-China-Japan New Renewable Energy Vehicle Innovation Development Forum" and the "High-Quality Development Forum for Trade Services" will also be held. In addition, a special exhibition introducing Korean culture and a space showcasing Korean fashion will be prepared. Yancheng City expects these to serve as opportunities to promote friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries ahead of the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations next year.
Hu Jielin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, attended the opening ceremony of the Korea-China Trade and Investment Expo and welcomed the Korean companies present, saying, "Korea is one of Jiangsu Province's four major trade cooperation countries," and "Despite COVID-19, the economies and trade between the two countries continue to grow steadily."
He added, "We will strive to create a better business environment and are working with Korean companies to create new development opportunities."
Yancheng has established friendly relations with 12 Korean cities and is home to over 1,000 Korean companies.
