Proactive Testing and Comprehensive Survey of Unregistered Foreigners Achieve Zero Foreign COVID-19 Cases
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that no foreign confirmed cases have occurred as it is taking various proactive measures, including the 'Visiting COVID-19 Preemptive Testing' targeting foreign workers.
So far, a total of 3,410 people (1,310 foreigners and 2,100 Koreans) have been tested in 11 sessions, all of whom received negative results. During the test conducted on the 27th, 580 masks were distributed to all testees.
Since July, with the nationwide spread of the 'Delta variant,' many foreign workers have been infected, and Jeollanam-do administrative orders recommend weekly diagnostic testing for both foreign and domestic workers at employment sites, leading to ongoing testing.
Additionally, through a full survey of foreign employment businesses and unregistered foreigners, vaccination status checks and encouragement of PCR testing are being conducted, and temporary management numbers are assigned for continuous management. There are 494 unregistered foreigners in the region who have completed vaccination.
A county official stated, “Thanks to the proactive preemptive testing and vaccination by businesses employing foreigners in the area, quarantine measures are being carried out more stably than in other cities and counties,” and added, “As we approach a phased return to daily life, we ask everyone to continue adhering to quarantine rules until the end.”
