Yeosu High School Multipurpose Auditorium, 40 Years Old and Safety Risk... Reconstruction Project 1.788 Billion Won
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] Joo Cheol-hyun, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Yeosu City Gap, Jeollanam-do), has secured 2.7 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of Education for the second half of the year to improve the environment of high schools in the Yeosu area.
According to Rep. Joo Cheol-hyun's office, the special grants secured from the Ministry of Education on the 27th amount to 1.788 billion KRW for the reconstruction of the multipurpose auditorium at Yeosu High School, and 920 million KRW for the repair of dormitory facilities and restroom improvements in the annex building at Hanyeong High School, totaling 2.69 billion KRW.
The multipurpose auditorium at Yeosu High School was completed in February 1981 and is an aging facility over 40 years old, causing inconvenience to students' education. In particular, the auditorium's safety rating is C grade, and after a reconstruction review by the Jeonnam Office of Education, proactive measures to prevent safety accidents were urgently needed.
Additionally, Hanyeong High School urgently required repairs to its aging dormitory and restroom facilities in the annex building.
Rep. Joo Cheol-hyun stated, "The 2.7 billion KRW secured for the two schools will not only improve the educational environment for students but also serve as a meaningful space for local residents' recreational sports activities. I will continue to identify and resolve necessary issues for Yeosu and do my best for the development of local education."
