[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 28th that starting from December, it will implement a "driving restriction on Grade 5 emission vehicles" when a high concentration fine dust emergency reduction measure is issued.
The driving restriction on Grade 5 emission vehicles is enforced nationwide in accordance with the "Special Act on the Reduction and Management of Fine Dust."
The restriction hours are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and violators will receive a warning for the first three offenses, followed by a fine of 100,000 KRW (once per day) from the fourth offense onward.
Enforcement will be carried out through restriction enforcement cameras installed at four major roadside locations in the county.
However, vehicles that have completed low-emission measures such as attaching reduction devices or engine replacement, vehicles that cannot be equipped with reduction devices, commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, vehicles for the disabled, and vehicles for national merit recipients are exempt from enforcement.
There will be no driving restrictions on weekends and public holidays.
Vehicles subject to Grade 5 emission restrictions can be checked through the "Vehicle Emission Grade System" website or call center.
Since enforcement conditions and exemptions vary by city and province, it is essential to check the restriction conditions of the relevant area through the Vehicle Emission Grade System website when visiting other regions.
A county official said, "We ask Grade 5 vehicle owners to voluntarily participate in driving restrictions to reduce emissions," and added, "We will do our best to create a clean and pleasant air environment through projects to reduce emissions from old diesel vehicles."
