[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the People Power Party and election countermeasures committee chairman for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, revealed on the 28th that he also proposed that Representative Hong Joon-pyo join the camp. This was a rebuttal to Hong’s criticism of those who joined Yoon’s camp as "old forces."
After a press conference held at the National Assembly Communication Office that day, Ha told reporters, "When I joined former Prosecutor General Yoon’s camp, it was considered old-fashioned, but Hong told me to join his camp, so why is that reform politics?" He added, "It’s contradictory to criticize them as old forces while asking them to join your camp." He pointed out, "The reason many lawmakers are joining former Prosecutor General Yoon’s camp instead of Hong’s camp lies in the difference in inclusiveness between the candidate and the camp."
Ha also mentioned on CBS Radio’s ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show,’ "They told me to come too," adding, "There was a kind of public courtship, a public invitation to join the camp." He continued, "If I join Hong’s side, I become a reform force, but if I join former Prosecutor General Yoon’s camp, I become an old force. Isn’t that the kind of argument they are making?"
Regarding the slowdown in Yoon’s approval ratings in polls, Ha said, "It seems that remarks about Jeon Du-hwan and the Instagram dog apology became negative factors," but added, "When a politician makes a mistake, it takes great courage to admit it cleanly and apologize." He said, "Because he admitted and apologized cleanly, I believe the recovery will be rapid."
Meanwhile, Ha said about former Prosecutor General Yoon’s plan to visit Gwangju amid a series of controversies, "I think he must accept everything, including (egg throwing) and so on."
