Sex Offender with 35 Prior Convictions Who Cut Off Electronic Ankle Bracelet and Fled in Suncheon, Jeonnam, Spotted in Jinju, Gyeongnam

A man in his 60s with 35 prior convictions, who cut off his electronic ankle bracelet and is currently on the run, has been publicly wanted. His current location is estimated to be Jinju-si, Gyeongnam.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] A 60-year-old male sex offender A (62), who cut off his electronic ankle bracelet and fled in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, was spotted in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do.

A has 35 prior convictions including violation of the Juvenile Sex Protection Act (rape of a minor) and has been classified as a "high-risk repeat offender," receiving intensive supervision and monitoring.

According to the Jeonnam Police Station on the 28th, A, who resides in Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, fled to Suncheon at around 10:45 p.m. on the 25th in a passenger car borrowed from an acquaintance.

Upon arriving in Geumgok-dong, Suncheon, A damaged his electronic ankle bracelet at 2:55 a.m. on the 26th, abandoned the car and his mobile phone, and disappeared into a nearby mountain.

A boarded the Mugunghwa train at Beolgyo Station in Boseong-gun, Jeonnam, at 12:26 p.m. the previous day and got off at Banseong Station in Jinju at 2:11 p.m.

The police confirmed A's location through CCTV and immediately began searching the Jinju area.

The Changwon Probation Office of the Ministry of Justice decided to issue a public warrant for A on the morning of the previous day.

According to the Changwon Probation Office, A is short and slim, standing 165 cm tall and weighing 64 kg. He has white hair and a gentle appearance. At the time of his escape, A was wearing a black suit with a pink shirt underneath and carrying a small black bag.
