"Changing the regime is not the issue; the political system and politics must be replaced"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Kim Jong-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed a negative stance on the 'Lee Jae-myung regime change theory' mentioned by Song Young-gil, the leader of the Democratic Party.
On the night of the 27th, Kim appeared on CBS Radio's 'One Round Match' and when the host mentioned, "Leader Song said the 'Lee Jae-myung regime change theory.' It is a very sensitive issue for people who want to protect President Moon Jae-in but dislike candidate Lee Jae-myung," Kim said, "That is a typically dangerous approach that can go wrong," expressing his view.
He said, "Yoon Seok-youl's approval rating is not because people like Yoon Seok-youl, but because many support him as 'the right person who can discipline Moon Jae-in, a swordsman,'" and added, "But if we are also like that, how much misunderstanding would arise?"
He continued, "Most of the people who supported former leader Lee Nak-yeon strongly support the Moon Jae-in government or President Moon Jae-in, but they might misunderstand it as 'If Lee Jae-myung wins, he will differentiate himself from the Moon Jae-in government and might discipline them later,'" and argued, "So I view it negatively."
Regarding persuading supporters of former leader Lee Nak-yeon, he emphasized, "If politicians who were in Lee Nak-yeon's camp unilaterally say, 'We have become one team, so you should join us,' it will not be effective."
He added, "These people originally had negative or critical thoughts about candidate Lee Jae-myung," and said, "This has not been resolved, but just because we became one team and Kim Jong-min says to do it, they absolutely will not do it."
Therefore, he explained, "Candidate Lee Jae-myung or leader Song Young-gil need to understand why there were criticisms or attacks against candidate Lee Jae-myung, read those feelings, find ways to respond accordingly, and actively reply," and "Only when these processes accumulate will there be movement. Approaching it as 'the campaign committee has launched, so let's go together' might lead these people to say, 'Democratic Party, you handle it yourselves.'"
Kim said, "Since the June 1987 uprising, this would be the seventh regime change and the fourth party change, but has regime change solved polarization, demographic changes, or fundamental problems?" and raised his voice, "The problem is not changing the regime but changing the political system and politics."
