Utilizing AI and Manufacturing Data to Solve Common Challenges Faced by Small and Medium Manufacturing Enterprises
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] An online competition to showcase the ability to develop manufacturing artificial intelligence models, the 'K-Artificial Intelligence (AI) Manufacturing Data Analysis Competition,' will be held.
Hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and organized by the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the competition aims to solve common problems faced by small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises through the development of AI analysis models to promote manufacturing innovation in these companies. The event will be conducted via the AI SME Manufacturing Platform (KAMP).
KAMP is a public-private joint cloud platform for small and medium-sized manufacturers, built through collaboration between the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group, KAIST, NHN, and others to strengthen the competitiveness of small manufacturing companies. It provides various services necessary for smart factories, including computing infrastructure, analysis and development tools, AI datasets, best practices, and educational materials.
The excellent analysis models selected through this competition will also be uploaded to the KAMP portal for use by small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.
The competition will be announced through the KAMP portal, where participants can check the scale of participation, awards, and the competition process. The theme is to build high-performance models applicable to manufacturing sites using KAMP's manufacturing AI datasets, with detailed information to be disclosed after participant recruitment.
Through document evaluation and model development presentation evaluation, eight teams will be selected as finalists and awarded a total prize of 29 million KRW. The awards ceremony will be held in a metaverse space in December, where the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award, KAIST President Award, and Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group Director Award will be presented.
Anyone interested in manufacturing data can participate in the competition. Those wishing to participate should submit the application form and other documents to the email address of the person in charge announced on the 'KAMP portal (kamp-ai.kr)' by the 9th of next month.
Park Han-gu, Director of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group, said, "Through this competition, we hope to expand the base of AI technology personnel related to manufacturing and further contribute to AI manufacturing innovation in the manufacturing industry."
