Gyeongnam National University Nursing Department, 12th Nightingale Oath Ceremony

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 27th, Gyeongnam National University held the '12th Nightingale Pledge Ceremony' at Simyeon Hall in Hanmami Future Hall on campus.

The Department of Nursing at Gyeongnam National University decided to change the target of the pledge ceremony from third-year students to second-year students, considering the clinical practice period.

Accordingly, following the '11th Nightingale Pledge Ceremony' for third-year students held in June, this time the '12th Nightingale Pledge Ceremony' was held for second-year students.

The ceremony was attended by President Park Jae-gyu, Dean of Student Affairs Kim Jae-gu, Dean of the College of Health Sciences Kang Ok-joo, Head of the Department of Nursing Lee Eun-joo, as well as nursing students taking the pledge and professors.

On this day, 106 second-year students renewed the noble spirit of Nightingale through a candlelight ceremony led by the student representative and the pledge, vowing to dedicate themselves to respecting life and upholding the ethics and responsibilities as professional nurses.

President Park said, "I hope that the pledge students will follow the path paved by their predecessors, grow into excellent nurses, and in the future become nurses who convey hope to patients with Nightingale's love and spirit."

The Department of Nursing at Gyeongnam National University obtained a 5-year accreditation for the Bachelor of Nursing program in the '2019 First Half Nursing Education Accreditation Evaluation' by the Korea Accreditation Board of Nursing Education. In 2020, it was selected as an institution to carry out the Nursing College Clinical Practice Education Support Project.
