Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Launches Pilot Operation of 'Namgu 119 Safety Education Center'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Nambu Fire Station (Chief Lee Jeong-ja) will conduct a pilot operation of the ‘Nam-gu 119 Safety Education Center’ until the 19th of next month.

The ‘Nam-gu 119 Safety Education Center’ is located in Bongseon-dong, Nam-gu, with a total floor area of 607㎡ and four floors above ground. It consists of experiential education facilities in four basic fire safety education areas: fire extinguishing equipment, emergency escape devices, fire escape, and first aid.

The pilot operation, which began on the 26th, is being conducted for firefighters and public institutions to pre-check the overall process required for operating educational programs and facilities before the official opening. It is held with fewer than 10 participants in accordance with social distancing guidelines to prevent COVID-19.

After the pilot operation period, the center is scheduled to officially open at the end of November, and education applications can be made through the city’s website ‘Baro Reservation’ system.

Chief Lee Jeong-ja said, “The Nam-gu 119 Safety Education Center will provide education not only for children but also for adults, so we will continuously strive to spread safety awareness and improve disaster response capabilities through education for various age groups.”
