[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Construction Workers’ Mutual Aid Association Gwangju Branch (Branch Manager Lee Sang-hyun) announced on the 27th that it has signed a business agreement with Jeonbuk Development Corporation to create jobs for construction technicians and other purposes.
It is expected that new job creation and employment placement through the Mutual Aid Association will be activated in construction projects ordered by Jeonbuk Development Corporation.
Jeonbuk Development Corporation is a representative local public enterprise of Jeollabuk-do that promotes regional development projects including land development for housing sites for local residents, sports and logistics facilities, industrial complexes, and housing construction.
The Mutual Aid Association conducts construction skill enhancement training and free employment support projects. The construction skill enhancement training is a training course by construction occupation aimed at improving the skills of construction workers and acquiring skills for job seekers in the construction industry. The Association entrusts training courses such as masonry, plastering, painting, waterproofing, and welding to 35 training institutions nationwide and operates them free of charge.
The free employment support project is a public job support program to alleviate job-seeking costs (such as referral fees) for construction workers. It provides employment at construction sites, recruitment counseling, and free placement services at 17 institutions nationwide, including two directly managed locations in Seoul and Incheon for employers and job seekers.
The main contents of this business agreement focus on mutual cooperation to create jobs and support employment for construction technicians in construction projects (architecture, civil engineering, maintenance) ordered by Jeonbuk Development Corporation, establish the retirement mutual aid system for construction workers, and provide education and promotion for major projects of each institution.
The Mutual Aid Association will serve as a mediator connecting construction companies’ recruitment and job seekers through construction skill enhancement training and free employment support projects. Through this, it is expected that employment of local construction technicians will be activated in construction projects managed by Jeonbuk Development Corporation.
A meeting was also held to improve the rights of construction technicians in the Honam region and to discover quality jobs.
Various stakeholders attended, including Lee Sang-hyun, Branch Manager of the Mutual Aid Association Gwangju Branch; Kim Cheon-hwan, President of Jeonbuk Development Corporation; and Lee Gyu-su, Head of the Construction Workers Employment Support Jeonbuk Jeonju Center. At the meeting, they agreed to join forces to create jobs and activate employment for local construction technicians.
Since last year, the Mutual Aid Association has been steadily working with related construction organizations in the Honam region, such as Gwangju Metropolitan City Urban Corporation, LH Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, Korea Construction Association Jeonnam Chapter, and Korea Housing Construction Association Gwangju-Jeonnam Chapter, to create new jobs and foster construction technicians.
Lee Sang-hyun, Branch Manager of the Mutual Aid Association, said, “Many new jobs have been created at construction sites managed by Jeonbuk Development Corporation, and an opportunity has been established to support the training of construction technicians. We will continue to strengthen organic cooperation with related organizations to improve the rights of construction technicians in the Honam region.”
