On the 27th, the Gwangju Western Police Station announced that it has requested the appearance of two individuals, including the head of the KCTU Gwangju branch, as suspects.
On the 20th, they held a general strike rally titled "Overcoming Inequality and a Great Transition to an Equal Society" in front of Gwangju City Hall, attended by over 3,000 union members.
The rally was held with a scale far exceeding the initially reported 49 participants, and it is expected that two charges will be applied for holding the rally and refusing to disperse despite police orders.
Under the social distancing level 3, gatherings of 50 or more people are prohibited.
The police are currently analyzing evidence materials, and the number of investigation subjects is expected to increase accordingly.
A police official stated, "We are discussing with the Seogu District Office, the competent local government office, about the extent of subjects to be prosecuted."
