Yoon Seok-yeol "Despite Various Noises, the Basic Stance Is Clear"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Kim Jong-in, former emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, who visited the funeral hall of the late former President Roh Tae-woo, said, "Among the presidents in our country's history, he left a significant mark on diplomacy."
On the morning of the 27th, Kim Jong-in visited the funeral hall set up at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, as soon as it opened, and stayed for about an hour with other mourners. He previously served as Minister of Health and Social Affairs and Chief Economic Secretary at the Blue House during the Roh Tae-woo administration.
After paying his respects, Kim told reporters about the late president, "He declared the so-called Northern Policy, greatly expanding our country's market, which laid a substantial foundation for us to rapidly become a developed country today."
He also shared his views on the ongoing primary election within the People Power Party. Regarding Yoon Seok-yeol, a former prosecutor general and presidential primary candidate, he said, "Since he is new to politics, he seems to have some noise due to not using the terms commonly employed by politicians," but praised him by adding, "His basic attitude is clear, and his way of seeing things is accurate."
Regarding rumors of joining Yoon's campaign, Kim said, "Once the candidate is confirmed on the 5th of next month, it would be good for both myself and the country's future to hear the candidate's thoughts and then cooperate," adding, "I will decide when I am certain."
