[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] This year’s job fair at Dongseo University was held online using the metaverse.
The Student Employment Support Office at Dongseo University announced on the 27th that it would hold an online job fair utilizing the metaverse.
At this Dongseo University metaverse job fair, a total of 24 companies from the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, including Busan New Port, Seowon Distribution, Park Hyatt Busan, and Donghwa Entech, plan to directly hire more than 50 people.
Amid severe employment difficulties due to COVID-19, metaverse avatars will guide job seekers to opportunities.
This year, Dongseo University plans to use the metaverse platform not just as a simple job fair but to diversify employment pathways through active communication between the MZ generation and small and medium-sized enterprises in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions.
The university expects the metaverse to help resolve the ‘job mismatch’ issue.
The event is co-hosted with the Busan Northern Employment and Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
It is planned as a collaborative project with employment-linked organizations such as Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group, University Job Center Project Group, IPP-type Work-Learning Parallel Project Group, and K-Move School to create differentiated industry-academia cooperation cases.
Song Kang-young, head of the Student Employment Support Office (University Job Center), said, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, it has become practically difficult to operate large-scale in-person job fairs as in the past, so we decided to hold a metaverse platform job fair reflecting the trends of the MZ generation.”
