Opening of the '2021 Seomjingang International Experimental Art Festival (SIEAF)' on the 30th
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The 2021 Seomjingang International Experimental Art Festival (SIEAF) will open on the 30th in the Gokseong area of Jeonnam with a metaverse-based rural art experimental work as its opening piece.
The opening work of this art festival, "Metaverse Noripan in Gokseong," is a collaborative project planned by Professor Namhyung Kim of Kaywon University of Art and Design's Advertising and Brand Design department. It aims to present a sustainable operation model for local performing arts festivals within the virtual metaverse space.
This work sets the surface of the Seomjingang River in Gokseong, Jeonnam, a real-world location, as a stage where performing artists from around the world can perform, realized within the JEPETO metaverse world (map). Domestic and international artists hold performances and fashion shows transcending time and space in the metaverse, and audiences can also watch together. Like the traditional Madangnori and Pansori pans, the audience participates in the playfield, making the act of playing itself a new concept of fusion art.
To expand the value of art, artists from various fields including artists, village residents, general audiences, and corporate officials participated in the work. It will also be shared via a 20-minute YouTube live broadcast starting at 3:10 PM on the 30th.
Video, concept art, sketches, and graphic works centered on the metaverse 3D avatar performance costumes used in "Metaverse Noripan in Gokseong" will be sold on Opensea, an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) marketplace. Additionally, the advertising fees from Baeksemi, the advertiser of the Gokseong Seokgok Agricultural Cooperative, which was the first to be commissioned in the Metaverse Noripan Gokseong world, along with the proceeds from the sale of the works, will be donated to the Seomjingang International Experimental Art Festival Steering Committee.
