Autumn Flower Festival Near Festival Site, Duryunsan Foliage at Its Peak
[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, will hold the ‘Haenam Minam (味南) Festival’ from the 12th to the 14th of next month as a festival rich in sights with a feast of autumn flowers and foliage.
According to the county on the 27th, to celebrate the Haenam Minam Festival, a Land’s End Flower Festival will be held for a month starting from the 28th at the grassy area of Duryunsan Provincial Park, the festival site.
The Land’s End Flower Festival plans to exhibit 18 types and about 80,000 chrysanthemum flowers, including large-scale sculptures made from chrysanthemums cultivated by the Haenam-gun Agricultural Technology Center, providing special attractions for tourists visiting Daheungsa Temple and the festival site.
Along with large chrysanthemum sculptures such as Haenam Fortress and Niagara Falls, themed zones popular with children like the Dinosaur Zone and Character Zone will be installed, and at night, LED lighting will create a unique atmosphere. The chrysanthemum exhibition hall will be fully bloomed and decorate the colorful festival grounds from early November after installation is completed.
Additionally, the Haenam Minam Festival period coincides with the peak autumn foliage of Duryunsan, offering an opportunity to fully enjoy the colorful autumn of the southern region.
Duryunsan, where the autumn leaves linger last on the Korean Peninsula, is expected to reach peak foliage in the second week of November.
Duryunsan is considered a representative autumn foliage spot in the southern region with its splendid scenery of a ten-ri forest path formed by various subtropical forests, valleys, and water harmoniously combined.
It is also a place where historic cultural relics, including the UNESCO World Heritage thousand-year-old temple Daheungsa, are scattered, attracting continuous visitors. The opening of Duryun Miro Park, Jeollanam-do’s first maze park, has further increased the number of visitors.
The offline festival site will limit the number of entrants according to quarantine stages, and only those who have completed vaccination can enter after making a reservation in advance.
The event will mainly focus on exhibitions and viewing, while experiential events will be conducted by reservation in separate independent spaces. Visitors wishing to participate on-site can make reservations from the 1st of next month on the Haenam Minam Festival website, and major programs will be broadcast through the festival website, Haenam-gun Facebook, and YouTube.
There will be a nationwide cooking contest themed on dishes using Haenam’s agricultural and marine products such as cabbage, sweet potatoes, seaweed, and abalone, along with a Minam Food Show with stars, Haenam Miso live commerce, Minam Festival busking, and healing concerts.
Exhibition and experiential events include sales booths for Minam lunchboxes and finger foods, kimchi and Makgeolli making experience halls, shared kitchen cooking experiences, picnic lunchboxes, and dalgona candy making experiences.
