COVID-19 New Cases 1,952... [Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The number of new domestic COVID-19 cases in South Korea approached the 2,000 mark again on the 27th.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, 1,952 new domestic COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 356,305. Of these, 1,930 were locally transmitted and 22 were imported cases.


By region, Seoul reported 723 cases, Gyeonggi 734 cases, and Incheon 125 cases, totaling 1,582 cases (82%) in the metropolitan area.


Non-metropolitan areas reported 348 cases (18.0%), including Chungnam 58, Gyeongnam 44, Busan and Gyeongbuk 42 each, Daegu 39, Jeonbuk 30, Chungbuk 29, Gangwon 19, Daejeon 15, Gwangju 9, Ulsan and Jeju 7 each, Jeonnam 6, and Sejong 1.


Among the 22 imported cases, 6 were detected during quarantine, and the remaining 16 were confirmed in the local community. Six were Korean nationals and 16 were foreigners.


The death toll increased by 9 the previous day, bringing the total to 2,797, with a fatality rate of 0.79%. The number of critically ill patients is 341.


The number of newly released from isolation increased by 2,066, bringing the cumulative total to 329,658.


The number of suspected cases tested was 48,883, and 77,191 tests were conducted at temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, confirming 601 positive cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 11,144 tests were conducted, identifying 36 positive cases. The total number of tests conducted was 137,218.


According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, 40,305 people received their first dose the previous day, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to 40,891,088. The vaccination rate for the first dose relative to the population is 79.6%. Among those aged 18 and over, 92% have completed their first dose.


The number of people who completed vaccination the previous day was 278,236, bringing the total to 36,709,777. The vaccination completion rate relative to the population is 71.5%.


As of midnight on the 26th to 27th, 5,735 new cases suspected of adverse reactions following COVID-19 vaccination were reported.


There were 11 new suspected anaphylaxis cases, 91 major adverse reaction cases including neurological symptoms, and 5 new death reports.
