[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver Webtoon announced on the 27th that it has launched the beta service of the 'Webtoon Artificial Intelligence (AI) Painter.'
The 'Webtoon AI Painter' is a service that helps with natural coloring; creators select colors and touch the desired areas, and the AI automatically distinguishes the necessary regions and applies colors.
Unlike the previous manual process, it improves efficiency by enabling coloring with just a few touches.
The 'Webtoon AI Painter' incorporates technologies that Naver Webtoon has researched and developed over three years. Using deep learning technology and a dataset of about 300,000 images, it learned the features of each area in images such as faces, bodies, and backgrounds, as well as various coloring styles.
Additionally, technologies such as original resolution preservation have been applied to facilitate smooth post-editing work by creators, enhancing the service's completeness.
Naver Webtoon plans to advance technologies such as automatic background generation and automatic character generation, starting with the 'Webtoon AI Painter,' and introduce them as services.
