Hyundai Motor Company Hosts Digital Motorsports Festival 'Hyundai N e-Festival'

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 27th that it will hold the digital motorsports competition "Hyundai N e-Festival," which anyone can easily and enjoyably participate in, for the second consecutive year following last year.

Digital motorsports refers to online car racing competitions that break down the physical barriers of traditional motorsports, allowing participants to enjoy the sport without spatial or financial burdens.

The Hyundai N e-Festival is divided into the "Junior Cup," targeting youth aged 12 to 16, and the "Global League," where players from 12 major countries worldwide with active digital motorsports scenes participate together.

Hyundai explained that this year, they will prioritize operating the Junior Cup with the goal of nurturing young players, and plan to expand the stage to the Global League starting early next year.

The Junior Cup qualifiers will be held using the PC-based racing simulation game "Assetto Corsa" until the 7th of next month, and players wishing to participate can upload their records on the website SideBySide.

Participants who pass the qualifiers will have the opportunity to compete in the finals under the guidance of players from top domestic motorsports teams such as "Atlas BX Racing Team," "Solite Indigo Racing Team," "Seohan GP," and "DCT Racing Team." The winner of the Junior Cup finals will be granted a spot in the Global League finals.

For the Global League to be held next year, qualifiers will be conducted simultaneously in 12 countries including South Korea, with the top two players from each country and six wildcards, totaling 30 participants, advancing to the finals.

Hyundai expects that players participating in the Global League will represent their countries and compete in driving skills within the game "iRacing," known for its physics engine most similar to real vehicles.

The official vehicle for the competition is the "Avante N TCR," which has achieved outstanding results in the world’s top touring car competitions.

Through collaboration with Assetto Corsa and iRacing, Hyundai has perfectly replicated the dynamic driving performance and sound of the Avante N TCR in virtual space, and participating players are expected to fully experience Hyundai’s high-performance technology.

Til Badenberg, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Company’s N Brand Management Motorsports Division, said, "Based on the Hyundai N e-Festival, we will vividly convey the fun and excitement of motorsports using the theme of e-sports," adding, "We hope the Hyundai N e-Festival will actively nurture talented youth, expand the base of motorsports in Korea, and serve as a good stepping stone for developing world-class players."
