Hyundai Tucson PHEV Achieves 1st Place in Comparison Review by Germany's Top 3 Automotive Magazines

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor's sports utility vehicle (SUV) model, the Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), swept first place overall in comparison evaluations conducted by three major German automotive magazines.

According to Hyundai Motor on the 27th, three German automotive magazines?Auto Zeitung, Auto Motor und Sport, and Auto Bild?recently each conducted comparison evaluations of PHEV SUVs attracting attention in the European market.

In its latest issue this month, Auto Zeitung conducted a comparison evaluation of four PHEV vehicles?Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, Peugeot 3008, and Opel Grandland?across five categories: body, comfort, powertrain, driving characteristics, environmental friendliness, and cost.

The Tucson PHEV ranked first in the driving characteristics category, surpassing the Volkswagen Tiguan and Peugeot 3008, which are considered benchmarks for European-style driving characteristics, and achieved first place overall in this evaluation.

Auto Motor und Sport also conducted a comparison evaluation last August targeting the Tucson PHEV, Volkswagen Tiguan, Peugeot 3008, and Audi Q3 Sportback. In this magazine’s evaluation consisting of seven categories, the Tucson PHEV ranked first in four categories?body, powertrain, driving characteristics, and cost?surpassing the premium brand Audi Q3 Sportback to claim overall first place.

In the comparison evaluation conducted by Auto Bild in July, the Tucson PHEV ranked first overall, beating competing vehicles such as the Peugeot 3008, Land Rover Discovery Sport, and Toyota RAV4.

A Hyundai Motor official stated, "The Tucson PHEV’s achievement of first place overall in comparison evaluations by prestigious media, surpassing competing models from various brands in Germany, the home of the global automotive industry, once again proves Hyundai Motor’s technological prowess and brand competitiveness." He added, "Above all, the fact that the target vehicle is a PHEV, the most notable eco-friendly model in the European market, raises expectations for the Tucson PHEV’s strong performance."
