1631 Confirmed Cases by 6 PM... 650 More Than the Previous Day

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] On the 26th, a total of 1,631 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide. This is an increase of 650 cases compared to the previous day.

According to health authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 6 p.m. on the same day, a total of 1,631 new positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed nationwide.

This is 650 more than the 981 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 358 more than the 1,273 cases reported a week earlier on the 19th.

Of the new cases, 1,320 (80.9%) were from the Seoul metropolitan area, and 311 (19.1%) were from non-metropolitan areas.

By region, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 634, Gyeonggi 579, Incheon 107, Chungnam 58, Gyeongbuk 42, Busan 40, Daegu and Gyeongnam 39 each, Chungbuk 26, Gangwon and Jeonbuk 17 each, Daejeon 11, Jeju 7, Jeonnam 6, Gwangju 5, and Ulsan 4. No cases were reported in Sejong.

Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new cases announced at midnight on the 27th is expected to be in the range of 1,800 to 1,900.
