Jeonju City Opens Hyocheon Bridge Connecting Hyocheon District and Samcheon-dong

Constructed with a length of 126m and a 6-lane two-way scale

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Hyocheon Bridge, which connects the Hyocheon District and the densely populated apartment area and food alley in Samcheon-dong, has been opened.

According to Jeonju City on the 26th, Hyocheon Bridge was completed with a total project cost of 15.4 billion KRW starting from February last year to cope with the increased traffic demand following the completion of the Hyocheon District urban development project and to strengthen accessibility to Samcheon-dong.

Originally, the bridge construction was not included in the Hyocheon District urban development project, but after continuous consultations with LH, it was confirmed as an additional project at the 2016 Land Evaluation Council, and the project was initiated.

Hyocheon Bridge has opened with a length of 126 meters and a width ranging from 36.5 meters to 43 meters, featuring six lanes for two-way traffic.

On both sides of the upper part of the bridge, a plaza-type sidewalk with a width of 9.5 meters and a pedestrian path 5.5 meters wide were created, designed to be used as a resting and cultural performance space for citizens.

In particular, a forest path was created on the pedestrian walkway on the upper part of the bridge to harmonize with the natural ecological environment of Samcheon, and a green belt was made between the sidewalk and the roadway, with night landscape lighting installed to provide a distinctive view for citizens strolling along Samcheon.

Jeonju City expects that the opening of Hyocheon Bridge will not only resolve traffic congestion in the Hyocheon District and enhance accessibility but also serve as a space where residents can momentarily heal their weary minds.
