[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jongseon] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yu Geun-gi) announced on the 26th that it has selected 19 projects (totaling 800 million KRW) as resident proposal projects for next year.
On the 25th, Gokseong-gun (Governor Yu Geun-gi) held a Resident Participation Budget Committee meeting to review the inclusion of next year’s budget for resident proposal projects.
At the meeting, Gokseong-gun explained the direction of next year’s budget formulation to the Resident Participation Budget Committee members and reported on the progress of this year’s resident participation budget projects. In addition, the resident proposal projects submitted this year were reviewed and projects to be included in next year’s budget were decided.
Gokseong-gun accepted resident proposal projects for 130 days this year, about three months longer than last year. As a result, a total of 30 proposal projects were submitted. By category, projects related to resident convenience and inconvenience resolution were the most with 24 cases, followed by 4 in culture and tourism, and 2 in community revitalization.
Generally, the submitted resident proposal projects undergo feasibility and required budget reviews by the responsible departments, followed by validity screening by the budget department.
Afterwards, if selected by the Resident Participation Budget Committee, the project budget is reflected in next year’s budget plan.
In 2022, 19 projects (800 million KRW) were selected as resident proposal projects, including the improvement project for the dangerous section of Ip-myeon County Road No. 1 (200 million KRW) and the Baegilhong Blooming Road creation project at Seongdeok Reservoir in Osan-myeon (100 million KRW).
These projects will be finalized after approval by the Gokseong County Council along with the 2022 budget plan prepared by the county and will be disclosed through the county website.
A county official said, “The number of resident proposal submissions and reflected projects this year has significantly increased compared to last year. We believe this reflects the growing desire of residents to participate in county administration.” He added, “To realize resident sovereignty, we plan to expand the resident participation budget system by operating resident budget schools.”
