[AKYUNG Poll] 6 out of 10 People Support Special Prosecutor for Daejangdong Case

According to a public opinion survey conducted by Asia Economy through Winzi Korea Consulting from the 23rd to 24th, targeting 1,024 voters aged 18 and over nationwide (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response), 64% supported the special prosecutor initiative, 27.1% opposed it, and 8.9% responded that they did not know.

Additionally, 53.7% expressed the opinion that candidate Lee bears significant responsibility for designing the Daejang-dong development project and having command authority over Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, while 37.5% answered that the ruling party at the time of the project’s implementation and the People Power Party, which was the majority in the Seongnam City Council and blocked public development, bear responsibility. Those who did not know accounted for 8.8%. Compared to the previous survey (October 9-10), the responsibility attributed to candidate Lee decreased by 2.8 percentage points, while the responsibility attributed to the People Power Party increased by 3.3 percentage points. Between the two surveys, there was a National Assembly inspection of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, where the Daejang-dong allegations became a key issue.

The response rate for this survey was 6.6%, and the sample was extracted by applying weighted values by gender, age, and region based on the resident registration population data from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as of the end of January. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
