Jeongeup-si, Fully Committed to Step-by-Step Daily Life Recovery Preparation

Jeongeup-si, Fully Committed to Step-by-Step Daily Life Recovery Preparation

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) has begun preparations for a phased return to daily life so that citizens can safely return to normal from COVID-19.

According to the city on the 26th, as of the previous day, 89,304 people, or 82.3% of the total population, have completed the first dose of vaccination, and 78,591 people, or 72.4%, have completed the second dose.

This achievement was reached 10 months after the city began COVID-19 vaccinations in February, and is analyzed as the result of active citizen participation and continuous encouragement of vaccination through public-private cooperation.

Accordingly, the city formed the "Jeongeup City Daily Life Recovery Promotion Team" to overcome the overall economic and social crisis caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, including accumulated damage to small business owners and deepening social polarization, and to promote a "phased return to daily life."

The "Daily Life Recovery Promotion Team" supports a smooth transition to normal life by gradually easing quarantine measures in the order of business facilities, large-scale events, and private gatherings, in line with the rise in nationwide vaccination rates.

In particular, efforts will be made to resolve economic and social disparities and restore livelihoods so that self-employed individuals and vulnerable groups, who have been pushed to their limits by long-term social distancing, can recover to pre-COVID-19 conditions.

Along with this, the city plans to focus on revitalizing the local economy and overcoming social polarization by concentrating on preparing effective measures that reflect the voices of citizens and the field.

The Daily Life Recovery Promotion Team is divided into four sectors: ▲social welfare ▲economic livelihood ▲quarantine and medical ▲autonomy and safety, to carry out detailed tasks.

The social and cultural sector supports cultural healing for citizens' daily life recovery and the recovery of industries in social and cultural fields, while the economic and livelihood sector gradually normalizes COVID-19 quarantine regulations for small business owners and checks and supports the local economy activation and COVID-19 response in employment and labor sectors.

The quarantine and medical sector revises quarantine guidelines for phased daily life recovery, including adjusting social distancing measures, transitioning quarantine responses (epidemiological investigations, diagnostic tests, etc.), and establishing a safe medical response system.

Additionally, the autonomy and safety sector will promote the establishment and support of Jeongeup City's daily life recovery promotion system, create an ecosystem for community-participatory daily life recovery, and lead projects for regionally specialized daily life recovery.

Besides these four sectors, the city plans to expand additional sectors if necessary to maintain a detailed daily life recovery response strategy and stimulate local economic revitalization by promoting previously contracted private consumption and tourism demand.

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, "I thank all citizens who actively cooperated with quarantine rules and vaccinations," and added, "The city will focus all its capabilities on thorough and systematic preparations so that all citizens can safely and happily recover their daily lives."
