[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver's startup incubation organization D2SF announced on the 26th that it has made a follow-up investment in the AI-based tech startup 'Flask.'
Naver had previously made a seed investment in Flask last year. The investment raised this time by Flask amounts to 3 billion KRW, led by Smilegate Investment.
Flask is developing a character content creation solution utilizing deep learning technology. Its key feature is the 'animating automation' function that automatically generates character movements.
Yang Sanghwan, leader of Naver D2SF, said, "Most character content production relies on manual work, so it is a reality that the rapidly increasing content demand due to the rise of the metaverse cannot be met," adding, "The value of the content creation tools developed by Flask will gradually increase, and we expect close technological synergy with Naver."
Lee Junho, CEO of Flask, stated, "We plan to aggressively recruit core talent using this investment as a stepping stone," and added, "Based on excellent user experience and solid AI technology, we will innovate the global content industry."
Meanwhile, since its launch in 2015, Naver D2SF has invested in 78 technology startups. In particular, it is actively investing in technologies suitable for new content environments such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Currently, it is publicly recruiting new investment teams through its homepage.
