Homeplus operates 'Vegan Zones' in 52 major stores nationwide and sells products from 'Unlimit,' the alternative meat brand of food tech startup Jiguin Company.
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Homeplus announced on the 26th that it will operate a 'Vegan Zone' in 52 major stores nationwide and sell products from the alternative meat brand 'Unlimit' by the food tech startup Jiguin Company.
Unlimit is the first domestic brand to develop, manufacture, and sell plant-based meat, and it is an alternative meat brand exported not only within Korea but also to Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, the United States, Australia, and other countries. The products introduced at Homeplus include four types: Unlimit slices for grilling, burger patties, mince, and pulled barbecue.
At Homeplus's bakery 'Montblanger,' a plant-based customized bread called 'Pure Plant-Based Bread,' made only with plant-based ingredients, will be launched on the 28th. This product is a vegetarian-friendly bread made without milk, eggs, or butter, using only plant-based ingredients. The dough includes glutinous rice and olive oil to add chewiness and a mild flavor, highlighting the natural taste of the ingredients.
A Homeplus representative said, "As customer interest in vegan-related products, including alternative meat, which is considered one of the future food sources, increases, we are introducing a variety of healthy foods." They added, "We plan to continuously expand and launch new products such as vegan cheese, slices, meatballs, and barbecue."
