[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Short track national team member Shim Seok-hee is under police investigation over allegations that she recorded conversations with other athletes during the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
According to the police on the 26th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency assigned the case involving Shim's suspected violation of the Communications Privacy Protection Act to the Namdaemun Police Station on the 24th for investigation.
Previously, a complainant filed a petition with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's National Petition Board, requesting punishment for Shim's illegal wiretapping. A media outlet reported messenger conversations between Shim and coach A, stating that Shim said, "I'm in the locker room trying to hear what Choi Min-jeong is saying to the coach," and "I have to record it."
