[AKYUNG Poll] Hong Jun-pyo and Yoon Seok-yeol's Suitability as Opposition Candidates Decreased but Still 'Strong'

On the 26th, Asia Economy commissioned Win-G Korea Consulting to conduct a public opinion survey (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response) from the 23rd to 24th targeting 1,023 voters nationwide aged 18 and older. In the suitability ratings for conservative opposition presidential candidates, Representative Hong was surveyed at 27.3%, ranking first. Former Prosecutor General Yoon, who held first place in the previous survey, was at 26.9%.

Representative Hong showed dominance among those in their 20s and 30s, while former Prosecutor General Yoon led among women and those aged 50 and above.

Compared to the previous regular survey (conducted on the 9th-10th), Representative Hong and former Prosecutor General Yoon each declined by 0.8 percentage points and 2.1 percentage points, respectively. Last week, former Prosecutor General Yoon faced negative impacts due to remarks that seemed to defend former President Jeon Du-hwan and a social media controversy involving giving apologies to a dog. Additionally, the negative offensives where Representative Hong and former Prosecutor General Yoon, who formed the leading group, disclosed each other's offensive and abusive remarks also acted as adverse factors.

On the other hand, former Representative Yoo rose by 2.5 percentage points compared to the previous survey, recording 15.7%. Former Jeju Province Governor Won Hee-ryong also increased by 1.1 percentage points to 5%.

Among the People Power Party supporters, former Prosecutor General Yoon was highest at 48.1%, followed by Representative Hong at 36.7%, former Representative Yoo at 5.6%, and former Governor Won at 4.5%.

People's Party leader Ahn Cheol-soo recorded 4.9%, other figures 6.3%, none 11.2%, and don't know 2.7%.
